Youth bitten by venomous snake at Anandapur Hospital

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8:  A youth was bitten by a snake while asleep at Anandapur Sub-divisional Hospital in Keonjhar district.

According to reports, the youth, identified as Baju Champai Boli from Gayalmunda village under Anandapur police limits, was attending to his ailing mother. Due to a shortage of beds, Baju was sleeping on the veranda outside his mother’s ward when a venomous snake bit him on the hand.

The snake then slithered into his pants, causing him to cry out in pain. Security personnel and other attendants, alerted by Baju’s screams, rushed to his aid and managed to remove the snake from his pants.

Baju was immediately taken to the emergency ward and treated. Fortunately, his condition is stable, according to hospital sources. Following the incident, the security guard reportedly killed the snake.

There are complaints that inadequate cleaning of the hospital premises has allowed snakes to enter the facility. This incident highlights the urgent need for better sanitation and pest control measures at the hospital.
