BJP accuses BJD of booth capturing in Odisha's Salipur

Bhubaneswar, June 1: Tension gripped the Salipur Assembly segment within Odisha's Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituency as BJP's MLA nominee, Arindam Roy, accused ruling BJD workers of booth capturing in Malasasan village.
The ongoing voting process encompasses six Lok Sabha constituencies and 42 Assembly seats in Odisha's final phase of simultaneous polling.
Addressing the media, Roy expressed shock at witnessing 8-10 individuals gathered inside the booth, one of whom directed a woman to press a particular party's button on the EVM. Claiming to be polling agents, they allegedly engaged in booth capturing. Roy's objection led to a confrontation with BJD workers arriving at the scene.
According to sources, purported BJD workers attacked BJP's polling agent, Sanjay Rout, along with four other party supporters, using sharp-edged weapons and sticks at the Malasasan village booth. The injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital.
Roy asserted that he received similar reports of booth capturing from at least six booths within the Salipur Assembly segment. He vowed to escalate the matter to the attention of the ADM and the SDPO.
