Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to contest two seats in upcoming Assembly elections

Bhubaneswar, April 17: In a notable development, Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Naveen Patnaik will now vie for two constituencies in the upcoming state Assembly elections. In addition to his traditional stronghold in Hinjili, Naveen will also contest from the Kantabanji Assembly constituency situated in Bolangir district.
This move mirrors Naveen's strategy from the 2019 Assembly elections when he ran in both Hinjili and Bijepur constituencies. However, he later relinquished the Bijepur seat, which was subsequently won by Rita Sahu in a by-election.
The announcement came alongside the revelation of the BJD's fifth candidate list for the forthcoming Assembly elections on Wednesday. Following deliberations among the party's top leadership, nine candidates were finalized, including a swap of constituencies for two candidates.
