Bhubaneswar, March 31: Amidst the ongoing flux of political affiliations in anticipation of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha, actor-turned-politician Akash Das Nayak formally embraced the BJP on Sunday.

Previously representing the Korei constituency in Jajpur district as a member of the BJD in the Odisha Legislative Assembly since 2014, Akash now aligns himself with the saffron party.

His induction into the BJP ranks occurred at the party's headquarters, in the presence of state unit president Manmohan Samal and several other notable leaders including Sameer Mohanty, Pradeep Panigrahi, Sidhant Mohapatra, and Arindam Ray.

Prior to his joining, Akash submitted his resignation letter to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday.

Expressing his motivations for the switch, Das Nayak remarked, "I have joined the BJP driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a prosperous India. My decision stems from a commitment to foster the holistic development of Odisha."
