Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak joins BJD after BJP resignation
Bhubaneswar, March 31: Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak, who parted ways with the BJP two days ago, officially joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today at Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
Accompanied by hundreds of supporters, Nayak rejoined the BJD fold during a gathering at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar known as Mishran Parb. Senior leader Pratap Deb, MP Sasmit Patra, and other dignitaries were present during the event.
Having previously served as a two-time legislator representing Nilagiri, Nayak submitted his resignation to State BJP president Manmohan Samal on Friday.
Nayak had initially been elected to the State Assembly in 2024 on a BJD ticket. Subsequently, in 2019, he secured re-election from Nilagiri in Balasore district under the BJP banner.
