Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: A woman and her nine-month-old son have reportedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances while travelling by train from Bengaluru to Bhubaneswar, prompting police to launch an investigation.

The missing woman has been identified as Subhadra Mallick, wife of Prakash Mallick of Rankei village in Jagatsinghpur district. According to reports, Subhadra was returning home with her infant son aboard the Bhubaneswar-Bengaluru Express on August 31.

At around 1:45 pm, she reportedly spoke to her father over the phone and asked him to arrange an auto-rickshaw to pick her up from Bhubaneswar railway station after the train arrived.

Following the call, her younger brother travelled to the railway station with an auto-rickshaw from Jagatsinghpur to receive her and the child. However, when he reached the station, Subhadra’s mobile phone was found switched off. He waited for a considerable period but could not locate his sister or nephew. With no information about their whereabouts, he eventually returned home.

Meanwhile, Subhadra’s husband, Prakash, lodged a written complaint with the Bengaluru Government Railway Police (GRP) regarding the disappearance. Acting on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to trace the missing mother and child.

Despite efforts, their whereabouts remain unknown so far. Police are examining available information and other possible leads to determine what happened during their journey. The circumstances surrounding their sudden disappearance have raised concern among family members.
