Bhadrak admin clamps down on gatherings ahead of college foundation day

Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: The Bhadrak district administration in Odisha imposed prohibitory orders around Motto Plus-III College in Chandbali on Wednesday, following a police report warning of potential clashes between BJP and BJD supporters, officials said.
The action was taken to maintain law and order during the college's foundation day celebrations, they added.
“There is a possibility of clashes and violence between supporters of the two parties, as BJP state president Manmohan Samal and MP Abimanyu Sethi have been invited to the event, while the local BJD MLA was not,” a district official stated.
On Tuesday, several BJD activists staged a protest on the college campus over the issue, according to the police.
Bhadrak Sub-Collector Manoja Patra enforced the prohibitory orders under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), covering a one-kilometer radius around the college, including Kheranga Bazar, Nalgonda Bazar, Digachia market, and Motto market. The restrictions are in place from 7:00 AM Wednesday until 7:00 AM Thursday.
The orders, based on a report by the Chandbali police station inspector-in-charge, prohibit meetings and gatherings of more than five people in the designated areas.
