Fire breaks out at Koraput Hospital, patients safely evacuated

Bhubaneswar, Aug 30: A fire broke out at the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput on Friday, caused by a short circuit in the SNCU unit of the Maternal and Pediatric Department.
The blaze quickly filled the entire ward with thick smoke, creating a chaotic situation. However, the hospital authorities responded swiftly, ensuring the safe evacuation of all patients, including newborns and pregnant women, along with the medical staff and relatives.
There were no casualties reported, thanks to the timely intervention. The police and fire department personnel arrived promptly at the scene to control the situation, working to extinguish the smoke and secure the building. The hospital administration praised the quick response of the staff, which prevented the incident from escalating further. The situation was brought under control, and an investigation is underway to assess the damage and prevent future occurrences.
