Mamata Mohanta submits Rajya Sabha nomination papers

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21: BJP Rajya Sabha nominee Mamata Mohanta filed her nomination papers on Wednesday at the Odisha Assembly. Accompanied by a supportive delegation, Mamata completed the filing process with the endorsement of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who was the first proponent of her nomination.
With the ruling BJP holding the requisite number of seats, Mamata’s election to the Rajya Sabha is widely expected to be successful. The Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled for September 3, if necessary, with votes to be counted and results announced by 5 pm on the same day.
Mamata Mohanta recently resigned from her Rajya Sabha seat and left the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). She joined the BJP just a day after her resignation. The BJP officially announced her as their Rajya Sabha candidate on Tuesday, setting the stage for her anticipated election.
