Accused escapes, prompting suspension of two Salipur cops
Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: Two police personnel have been suspended for dereliction of duty after an accused escaped from their custody while being taken for a medical check-up on Tuesday night under the Salipur police jurisdiction.
According to sources, the accused had been arrested by the Salepur police on charges of molestation and was being escorted for a mandatory medical examination when he managed to evade the officers and flee. Despite a frantic search, the police were unable to locate him.
In response to the incident, the Rural SP issued a suspension order for Home Guard Sushant Swain and Constable Sanjay Kumar Das, who were responsible for the accused’s custody at the time of the escape.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the negligence of the police personnel involved and the apparent lack of adequate security measures. Questions are being asked about how such a lapse could occur, prompting calls for stricter protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.
