Minister inaugurates first food grain ATM in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: Odisha Food and Civil Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra inaugurated a food grain ATM, named ‘Annapurti,’ at Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. This innovative ATM will provide 24-hour access to rice and wheat for consumers, enhancing food security in the region.
During the inauguration, Minister Patra remarked, “The success of the food grain ATM will empower consumers to bypass unscrupulous PDS rice dealers and utilize this reliable facility.” He added that if this pilot project proves successful, similar ATMs would be established in all districts and blocks across the state.
The Annapurti ATM can dispense up to 25 kilograms of rice or wheat in a single transaction, providing a substantial amount to meet the needs of households. This initiative aims to ensure that essential food grains are available to the public at any time, promoting transparency and convenience in the distribution of food supplies. The introduction of this facility marks a significant step towards improving the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Odisha.
