Odisha Vigilance arrests Additional Chief Engineer for crores in DA

Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Pradeep Kumar Rath, Additional Chief Engineer at the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC), following the discovery of disproportionate assets valued in crores during simultaneous searches at 12 locations linked to him on Monday.
In addition to the assets uncovered on Monday, Vigilance officials also found three more plots in Dhenkanal worth approximately Rs 1 crore during the searches.
According to a press release from the Odisha Vigilance Department on Tuesday, Rath was found to possess disproportionate assets that include two multi-storied buildings, two high-value flats in Bhubaneswar, 45 plots (including the three additional plots worth around Rs 1 crore), a medicine store, and a stone crusher unit registered in his and his family members' names. Additionally, the searches revealed around 1 kg of gold, deposits exceeding Rs 1.62 crore, two four-wheelers, two JCBs, one excavator, and one rock breaker. Rath reportedly could not provide satisfactory explanations for these assets.
As a result, Rath has been arrested by the Odisha Vigilance and will be presented in court on Tuesday to face charges related to his disproportionate assets.
