Congress leaders Moquim, Biswal return as suspension ends
Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: On Tuesday, the Indian National Congress (INC) rescinded the suspension of senior party leaders Mohammed Moquim and Chiranjib Biswal. Additionally, the expulsion of former MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria was also overturned by the grand old party.
A pivotal meeting took place on Monday, where Mohammed Moquim, the MLA from Cuttack-Barabati, and former legislator Chiranjib Biswal engaged with Ajoy Kumar, the party's Odisha in-charge, in Bhubaneswar. The discussion centered around the potential revocation of their suspensions. Despite facing disciplinary actions, both Congress leaders have remained steadfast in their loyalty to the party and refrained from affiliating with any other organizations.
Addressing the media later, Ajoy Kumar emphasized the strength of Moquim and Biswal as Congress leaders, highlighting their significant contributions to the party's success in the state. He assured that all misunderstandings have been resolved, indicating a imminent return to the party fold for the two leaders.
Since assuming the role of the party in-charge in Odisha, Ajoy Kumar has been actively working to consolidate and strengthen the political organization by fostering unity among the leadership. Acknowledging the disarray within the Congress, he emphasized the need for unification.
It is noteworthy that the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) had suspended Moquim and Biswal from the party on July 16, 2023, citing reasons related to anti-party activities.
