Unaccounted cash of Rs 6 lakh seized from constable by Odisha Vigilance

Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: The Odisha Vigilance has apprehended a constable employed in the District Voluntary Force (DVF) in Boudh district, in possession of unaccounted cash totaling Rs 6 lakh.
Acting on credible information, the Vigilance team intercepted Harish Chandra Sahu in the vicinity of the Baghiapada outpost, situated within the Boudh Town police jurisdiction.
"Since Sahu was unable to provide a satisfactory account for the funds, the amount was confiscated and seized. Following this interception, simultaneous investigations are being conducted at three of Sahu's locations, focusing on potential disproportionate assets. He is currently under examination to determine the source of these funds," stated an official.
Sources have revealed that Sahu, as a member of the DVF unit, had been allegedly collecting illicit payments from individuals involved in the ganja trade, including dealers, growers, and traders, to facilitate their activities. The inquiry into this case is ongoing.
