Medico loses life in Rushikulya river mishap

Berhampur, Oct 23: A tragic incident occurred in Odisha's Ganjam district on Sunday when a medical student lost his life due to drowning in the Rushikulya river.
The victim, identified as Rakesh Kumar Padhi, was a junior doctor hailing from Gosaninuagaon in Berhampur within the district. Rakesh and two of his friends had embarked on a picnic to Sorada. While enjoying their outing, they were strolling along the banks of the Huluhula outlet of the river when a fateful mishap occurred. Rakesh accidentally slipped and fell into the water.
The strong river current quickly carried Rakesh into deeper waters, and he went missing before anyone could come to his aid. His friends immediately alerted the police and the Fire Brigade for assistance.
Following an extensive search effort, the Fire personnel succeeded in locating Rakesh's lifeless body and safely retrieving it from the river. The police have initiated a case and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Rakesh, a medical student specializing at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, was serving as a junior doctor at the community health center (CHC) in Nuagaon.
