Double murder in Bargarh group clash sparks tension
Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: Two young men were killed and another sustained critical injuries following a violent group clash near Hatapada Sai Temple in Bargarh on Thursday evening, triggering tension across the locality. Police have intensified patrolling and security arrangements to prevent any further escalation.
The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Luha (24) of College Road and Suraj Barik (24) of Gobindapali. A third injured youth, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, is battling for life at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla.
According to preliminary reports, the incident stemmed from an argument between two groups near the temple premises. The altercation quickly spiraled into a violent clash, with assailants allegedly using sharp weapons, including bhujali.
All three victims were first admitted to Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital. Pradeep Luha died late at night during treatment. As the condition of the others worsened, they were shifted to VIMSAR for advanced care, where Suraj Barik later succumbed to his injuries.
Police have launched a detailed probe to determine the exact cause of the violence and identify those involved. Security has been tightened, and efforts are underway to restore normalcy in the area.
