Rs 20 lakh looted from parked car in broad daylight at Bargarh
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: In a shocking daylight robbery, unidentified miscreants smashed the window of a parked car near a hotel at Gandhi Chowk in Bargarh on Thursday and fled with ₹20 lakh in cash.
According to reports, Subodh Kumar Das, a resident of Talipada under Bargarh Municipal Corporation, had withdrawn ₹15 lakh from the State Bank of India (Main Branch) and another ₹5 lakh from the SBI Hospital Road Branch earlier in the day. He placed the total amount of ₹20 lakh inside his car before heading to a nearby hotel for lunch around 2 PM.
Moments later, some locals alerted him that the window beside the driver’s seat had been broken. Rushing back, Das found the car’s glass shattered and the cash missing. He immediately lodged a complaint at Bargarh Town Police Station.
Acting on the complaint, police have launched a manhunt to trace the culprits and recover the stolen money. The incident has sparked concern among residents over the increasing number of thefts and robberies in the district, prompting calls for tighter security measures in busy commercial areas.
