Daring robbery in Balasore: Loot worth ₹20 lakh, one injured

Bhubaneswar, March 24: A gang of six robbers, including a 12-13-year-old minor, stormed a house in Banagadia village under Semulia police limits in Balasore district and looted valuables worth nearly ₹20 lakh late Sunday night.
The criminals targeted the residence of Ananda Behera, breaking open the door around 2 AM. As the family woke up to the commotion, the robbers thrashed them and tied them up. During the attack, Ananda’s younger son, Ratikant Behera, was injured after being attacked with sharp weapons. The miscreants looted ₹8.40 lakh in cash along with gold jewellery, including a mangalsutra, two necklaces, rings, lockets, and a chain.
Ratikant was first taken to a hospital in Semulia and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
Meanwhile, another loot attempt was reported at a mobile shop near Markona Chhak. However, locals caught three of the suspects and handed them over to Simulia Police, which has launched an investigation into both cases.
