Jatra actor electrocuted while cleaning campaign vehicle in Kendrapara

Jatra actor electrocuted while cleaning campaign vehicle in Kendrapara

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: A tragic incident claimed the life of a 32-year-old Jatra actor, Prakash Gochhayat, in Talachua village under Rajnagar block, Kendrapara district, on Tuesday. Prakash, a resident of Kishan Nagar and a member of the renowned Rangamahal Jatra Troupe, was electrocuted while cleaning a campaign vehicle.

According to reports, Prakash was washing the vehicle, used by the troupe for promotional activities, when he came in contact with an electrical source. Despite immediate efforts to save him, he was rushed to the Rajnagar Community Health Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Prakash’s untimely demise has left the cultural fraternity in shock. His troupe members and others in the Jatra community expressed their grief, recalling his vibrant contributions to the performing arts.

Local police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident. Meanwhile, heartfelt condolences have poured in from across the district, with many offering support to his grieving family.
