Amrutjay, Prisha top seed in Utkal Open Tennis

Amrutjay, Prisha top seed in Utkal Open Tennis

Bhubaneswar: Amrutjay Mohanty and Prisha Das adjudged as the top seeded player in the men and women category respectively of the 11th Utkal Open Tennis Tournament, which kicks started at Kalinga Stadium here on Friday, being organised by ACE Tennis Club.

Altogether 300 players are participating in the U-12 boys, U-14 boys, girls, women’s singles, men’s singles, doubles, veteran 40+, 50+ and 60+ doubles categories. The tournament featured a total cash award of Rs 3.50 lakhs to be concluded on Sunday.

Former Chief secretary of Odisha Suresh Chandra Mohapatra inaugurated the tournament in presence of PCCF Debidutta Biswal, Utkal Builders Ltd Founder and Chairman Subhas Chand Bhura, ACE President Prakash Chand Bhura and Organising Chairman Dr Biswajit Mishra.

Reminding  the initial age of tennis sports in Odisha, chief guest Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said “26 years down the line we started playing tennis in this place, however it's happy to note that many young kids of the State join the sports now”.
