Odisha govt and SJTA to enforce regular quality checks on Mahaprasad at Puri Temple

Bhubaneswar, Sept 27: The Odisha government and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) have decided to conduct regular quality checks on Mahaprasad and ghee at the Puri Jagannath Temple.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said that in light of recent concerns regarding prasad quality at Tirupati temple, the Odisha government and SJTA will ensure that Mahaprasad and its ingredients meet high standards.
"The government and SJTA will jointly conduct quality inspections of the items before they enter the temple kitchen and again after the Mahaprasad is prepared," the minister stated. He added that the Health Department has been directed to provide food inspectors for this purpose. "We will soon appoint dedicated food inspectors for the Srimandir," he further confirmed.
Harichandan reassured that the government is mindful of incidents at other temples and is taking preventive measures to avoid similar issues in Odisha's temples.
