Konark Sun Temple inundated as heavy rains cause disruption across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: Heavy rainfall, triggered by a low-pressure system, has disrupted life across Odisha, with districts like Cuttack, Khurda, and Puri facing continuous downpours. The iconic Konark Sun Temple has been severely affected, with waterlogging creating significant inconvenience for visitors.
According to reports, the temple premises are inundated with ankle-deep water. The main road leading to the temple and surrounding areas is submerged, forcing tourists to wade through waterlogged paths. Pumps have been installed to drain the water from the site.
However, waterlogging at the Konark Sun Temple is a recurring issue. Even brief rain often leads to flooding, yet authorities have failed to implement a lasting solution. This persistent problem tarnishes the experience of both domestic and international tourists, many of whom leave with negative impressions. Locals have called for more proactive measures to prevent future waterlogging and preserve the temple’s historical significance.
