Odisha braces for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across 20 districts

Bhubaneswar, Sept 25: Odisha is preparing for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) in 20 districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh, over the next 48 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall for 21 districts on Thursday. These districts include Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Jajpur, Cuttack, and Khurda.
For September 27, heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) is expected at isolated locations in Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
This weather activity is attributed to a low-pressure area that has developed over the west-central Bay of Bengal, near the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha, due to a cyclonic circulation over the central Bay of Bengal.
