Rourkela Police nab two in connection with gang rape of woman

Bhubaneswar, July 26: In a shocking incident, Plant Site police arrested two daily laborers for allegedly gang-raping a young woman in Rourkela. The accused reportedly brought the victim, also a daily laborer from Bonai, and checked her into a hotel where they committed the crime, sources said.
According to police sources, the victim was held captive for several days and subjected to repeated gang rape. The accused later abandoned the victim and fled the scene. On Thursday, police rescued the gang rape victim from a railway track. It was then that the victim narrated her ordeal to the police, detailing the horrific incident.
The police subsequently took her for a medical examination and launched a thorough investigation. The victim was later sent to the Sakhi Centre, a support center for women. Based on the victim’s statement, the police swiftly arrested the two accused individuals. The incident has sparked outrage and underscored the urgent need for increased safety measures for women in the area.
