Low-pressure area to bring increased rainfall activity in Odisha from July 19

Bhubaneswar, July 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an increase in rainfall activity in the state starting July 19, due to the formation of a low-pressure area over southern Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
A press release from the regional IMD center stated, “A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19, 2024.”
IMD reports indicate that Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Koraput districts will likely experience heavy rainfall today. A ‘Yellow Warning’ has been issued for these districts, signaling heavy isolated rainfall.
Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in many areas of South Odisha and a few places in North Odisha.
From July 18 to July 19, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, and Puri districts.
