Cyclonic Storm Likely By May 8 , Landfall Likely On May 10

The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Friday confirmed that the cyclonic flow over South Andaman Sea and its adjoining region that formed a low-pressure region on Friday morning is likely to intensify into a depression on May 7 and then into a cyclonic storm by May 8 evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday.
The Met Dept on twitter said, “The Low Pressure Area over South Andaman Sea & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal very likely to move northwestwards, intensify into a Depression by 7th May evening and further into a Cyclonic Storm by 8th May evening.”
The Met Dept further said "It is very likely to continue to move northwestwards & reach Westcentral Bay of Bengal off north AndhraOdisha coasts by 10th May,".
Meanwhile, the state government is fully prepared for the storm. Besides, the collectors of 18 districts have been asked to undertake all measures and stay prepared. As many as 17 NDRF, 20 ODRAF and 175 fire services teams are on high alert.
