Mystery surrounds brutal killing of ex-sarpanch in Odisha's Angul

Bhubaneswar, May 28: In a shocking incident, a former sarpanch was found dead in front of his house in Odisha's Angul district, according to reports on Tuesday.

The gruesome murder occurred in Jerenga Tahasil of Jarapada in Angul district. The deceased, identified as Bibhuti Garnayak, was previously supported by the BJD during his tenure as sarpanch, reports said.

While Garnayak was sleeping on the terrace, several miscreants brutally murdered him and disposed of his body in front of his house. His body was discovered with deep wounds and cuts on his head, face, and body, according to the reports.

Locals found the body and immediately notified the police. The Jarapada police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem. A detailed investigation is underway to determine how the murder was carried out, who was responsible, and the motive behind the crime.
