Odisha election update: Nomination process culminates for May 13 polls
Bhubaneswar, April 25: The deadline for filing nomination papers for four Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly constituencies in Odisha, scheduled for polling on May 13, is Thursday. The nomination process commenced on April 18.
The Lok Sabha seats slated for polling on May 13 are Kalahandi, Berhampur, Koraput, and Nabarangpur, while the 28 Assembly constituencies include Nuapada, Khariar, Umerkote, Jharigam, Nabarangpur, Dabugam, Lanjigarh, Junagarh, Dharmgarh, Bhawanipatna, Narla, Chhatrapur, Gopalpur, Berhampur, Digapahandi, Chikiti, Mohana, Paralakhemundi, Gunupur, Bissam Cuttack, Rayagada, Laxmipur, Kotpad, Jeypore, Koraput, Pottangi, Malkangiri, and Chitrakonda.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI) notification, scrutiny of nomination papers is slated for Friday, with candidates permitted to withdraw their nominations by Monday, April 29.
As of Wednesday, a total of 30 candidates had submitted their nominations for the four Lok Sabha seats.
Polling for 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly seats in Odisha will occur across four phases on May 13, 20, 25, and June 1. Vote counting will take place on June 4.
