Former Salepur MLA Prakash Chandra Behera joins BJD
Bhubaneswar, April 3: Former Salepur MLA Prakash Chandra Behera made a significant political move by joining the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at its party headquarters, Sankha Bhawan, in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, just weeks ahead of the elections in Odisha.
In a ceremony attended by senior BJD leader Manas Mangaraj, Behera was formally welcomed into the regional party.
Behera, who previously represented Salepur on a Congress ticket in 2014, later switched to the BJP before the 2019 elections. Despite his tenure as the BJP Cuttack district president, he faced defeat in the same constituency, losing to BJD's Prashant Behera.
His departure from the BJP follows closely after the induction of Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab into the saffron party on March 29.
