Undertrial prisoner charged with murder escapes from hospital in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 1: Arjun Munda, an undertrial prisoner facing murder charges, managed to escape from a hospital in Sundargarh, Odisha, where he was receiving treatment after a minor surgical procedure.
Reports indicate that Munda, who was accused of murder in the Bhasma police jurisdiction of Sundargarh district, had been admitted to the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on Friday. Following a minor operation on the same day, he was in the process of recovery. However, at approximately 2 am on Monday, he evaded the vigilance of the police personnel assigned to guard him and absconded from the hospital's prisoner ward.
Subsequent to the escape, prison authorities have lodged a complaint with the Sundargarh Town Police station, prompting a widespread search operation to locate and apprehend the fleeing prisoner.
