Amidst dry weather, IMD issues heatwave alert for Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for warmer nights and potential heatwaves in Odisha, given the prevailing dry weather conditions. According to the latest midday bulletin, temperatures across the state are expected to rise significantly over the next couple of days.
The day temperatures are forecasted to increase by 2-4°C in the coming two days, with a gradual rise in night temperatures by 2-3°C over the next 2-3 days.
As of 2:30 pm, Chandbali registered the highest temperature in Odisha at 39.6°C, closely followed by Bhubaneswar at 39.4°C, Jharsuguda at 39°C, and Balasore, Sambalpur, and Hirakud each at 38.5°C. The IMD predicts that temperatures may surpass 40°C in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar by April 4.
With the mercury on the rise, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to cope with the heatwave conditions.
