Commissionerate Police arrests burglar linked to multiple Bhubaneswar break-ins
Bhubaneswar, March 24: Odisha Police made a significant breakthrough on Sunday by apprehending a notorious burglar, allegedly responsible for a spate of burglaries across various parts of Bhubaneswar over the past year.
The arrested individual, identified as Parshuram Giri hailing from Balasore district, operated solo and predominantly targeted deserted residences. Police authorities reported the recovery of a substantial sum of Rs 21 lakh in cash, approximately 700 grams of gold ornaments, 7 kilograms of silver ornaments, and two motorcycles from Giri's possession.
Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Sanjeeb Panda, informed the press that Giri was apprehended during a routine night blockade and inspection. According to police records, the alleged burglar was linked to more than 21 cases, including four within the Mancheswar police jurisdiction.
Despite being a ninth-grade dropout, Giri confessed to leading an extravagant lifestyle, often lodging in luxury accommodations like the Taj when visiting other cities. Panda disclosed Giri's history of being arrested five times previously, with over 50 cases registered against him.
Detailing his modus operandi, Panda explained that Giri typically operated barefoot during burglaries, gaining entry into locked residences by breaking windows and activating flight mode on his phone. He meticulously ensured that targeted houses were unoccupied before proceeding with his criminal activities.
