Vigilance raid unearths crores worth assets linked to OAS officer
Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: A major raid conducted by the Odisha Vigilance on properties linked to Prasanna Samantaray, the Tahasildar of Kantapara in Cuttack district, has reportedly uncovered assets worth crores of rupees. The searches revealed multiple immovable properties, vehicles, and cash allegedly owned by the officer and his family members.
According to vigilance officials, the raid led to the discovery of two multi-storeyed buildings and several high-value land parcels in Bhubaneswar. One of the buildings is a triple-storeyed house measuring about 4,065 square feet located at Keshura. Another triple-storeyed building with an area of around 6,750 square feet is also under construction at the same locality.
Investigators have also identified seven high-value residential plots in Bhubaneswar believed to be linked to the officer. During the search operation, the vigilance team recovered ₹2.15 lakh in cash from the premises.
In addition to the properties and cash, officials found one four-wheeler, a Maruti Brezza, and three two-wheelers.
Samantaray joined government service in 2000 as a Local Fund Auditor with an initial salary of ₹5,130 per month. Vigilance authorities are now probing the case as a disproportionate assets investigation, and further searches and verification of financial records are currently underway.
