Odisha govt to set up mental health counselling centres for couples across the state

Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: The Odisha government is planning to set up mental health counselling centres across the state to address the increasing number of divorces.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that these centres, named "Maa Ra Chhata" or "Mother’s Court," will offer counselling services to couples before marriage. The primary focus will be on improving mental well-being, fostering better understanding between partners, and preventing marital disputes that could lead to divorce.
The initiative aims to equip couples with essential emotional and psychological support, ensuring stronger and healthier marital relationships. These counselling centres will be established in multiple locations across Odisha, making them accessible to couples from both urban and rural areas. Experts, including psychologists and family counsellors, will guide individuals on effective communication, conflict resolution, and relationship management.
By launching "Maa Ra Chhata," the government hopes to create a more supportive and harmonious society where couples can seek professional advice before and after marriage. This proactive step is expected to significantly reduce the number of divorces and contribute to the overall well-being of families in the state.
