Live bombs recovered in Berhampur, separate bomb attack reported in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: In a major operation, Baidyanathpur police recovered seven live bombs from an under-construction house in the Khajuria area of Berhampur, Ganjam district, on Saturday.
Police sources revealed that a group of youths abandoned a bag and fled the scene upon spotting a police patrol. During a search operation, the police discovered the bombs hidden in a kit bag on the upper floor of the house.
The area was immediately cordoned off, and a bomb disposal team was called in. The team successfully defused the explosives, which were later destroyed using a battery-powered device. The controlled explosion was so powerful that it shattered nearby windows and doors. An investigation is underway to identify the miscreants behind this act.
In a separate incident, unidentified assailants hurled bombs at the residence of a bamboo trader in Subhadrapur, under the jurisdiction of Cuttack Sadar police station, late Friday night. Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage were reported. Both incidents have heightened security concerns in the region.
