Bhubaneswar, July 16: A youth is missing after reportedly jumping into the Mahanadi River near Jobra in Cuttack on Monday night. Despite an extensive search by firefighting officials, the body of the youth, feared to have drowned, has not yet been recovered.

The missing youth has been identified as Prashant Rout, a resident of Chhatrabazar area in Cuttack, who is suspected to have drowned after falling into the Mahanadi river.

According to eyewitnesses, Rout was observed near the riverbank and accidentally fell into the water. Local residents promptly alerted the firefighting team, but due to the darkness of the night, the search operation was delayed.

The fire service team resumed their search efforts early this morning and is currently combing the river to locate the young man’s body.

The incident has deeply affected the local community, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
